MERGER NEWS
When the new Ss. John Neumann and Maria Goretti Catholic High School officially opens next September, the athletic teams will get new names and colors. The Saints will make their debut in black, white and gold — a compromise between Neumann’s orange and black and Goretti’s red and white, officials said. Goretti President Rita DeRosa Frey said the gold will distinguish Neumann-Goretti as the premier school in the archdiocese. Neumann basketball coach Carl Arrigale joked about how the color changes are going to kill his orange and black wardrobe. "It doesn’t matter what the colors are because you are going to have the same kids and coaches," he said. "The big thing is we have to stay on the same page and be positive about the change."
