The South Philadelphia Men’s Bocce League will begin the season Tuesday at Guerin Recreation Center, 16th and Jackson streets. The Women’s League seeks several new players or a full team of six to eight for Thursday evenings at Guerin. Novices can be taught the game, but commitment to weekly play is required. BEACON BASKETBALL
The Beacon community program at Bok Tech High, Eighth and Mifflin streets, is offering high-school division and 13-and-under basketball leagues. DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL
The Second Annual Philadelphia Dragon Boat Festival will take place Oct. 4 on the Schuylkill River racecourse in Fairmount Park. The festival will include teams from corporations, community organizations, businesses, schools and more. No prior rowing experience is required. EOM BIDDY SOCCER
