A man allegedly fired two shots at his girlfriend, then punched her in the face, police said. The suspect was arrested.
Police charged Terrance Hardy, 25, from the 1200 block of South Fifth Street, with attempted murder, aggravated and simple assault, firearms violations and related offenses, said Sgt. Steve Biello of South Detective Division.
It all started with an argument over the victim’s sister allegedly trying to give Hardy some "pills" outside a tavern, said investigators. As the 30-year-old victim tried to make her escape in her 1991 Toyota on the 2200 block of Washington Avenue, she noticed the suspect walking toward her with a firearm, Biello said.
Hardy allegedly pumped out two shots that struck the front passenger window, said the sergeant. He then jumped into the victim’s car, where the argument continued and he allegedly struck her in the face and grabbed her neck, according to reports.
The victim then was able to throw Hardy out of her car, Biello said. She sustained minor injuries to her lip, head and neck, but did not require hospital treatment, said police.
Mystery shooting
A 28-year-old man spent Christmas in the hospital after taking two bullets in his left leg, police said.
The victim told detectives he was on the 2000 block of Ellsworth Street around 1 p.m. Dec. 25 when an unknown man approached and opened fire, said Sgt. Steve Biello of South Detectives.
Seventeenth District police found the victim, but the shooter had long since fled, the sergeant said.
The victim was admitted to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition.

Crooks on film
Smile, you’re on security surveillance video!
If only the trio of armed bandits who robbed an Asian grocer had known their plan was being captured on film, they might have thought twice before pulling off their brazen heist last Friday.
Or maybe not.
The three males — who were still at large earlier this week — entered Lynnda’s Grocery on the 2300 block of Christian Street shortly after 9 a.m. Friday, said Sgt. Steve Biello of South Detectives.
While pretending to shop, the threesome waited for another customer to leave the store before they brandished handguns and demanded money, the 58-year-old owner told police.
One of the assailants talked on his cell phone during the entire holdup — which was captured on video and shown repeatedly on local news broadcasts in the hopes that someone would identify the culprits.
The robbers, all young males, forced a store employee behind the counter, where another employee was stationed. Before making their getaway, they swiped $400, two cell phones and several cartons of cigarettes, Biello said.
The holdup was another in a string of recent neighborhood store robberies. To report information, call South Detectives at 215-686-3013.
Suspicious video?
In this post-9-11 environment, is it a crime to videotape a chemical plant?
A man doing just that on Christmas morning apparently didn’t think so.
An employee of the INOLEX chemical plant on the 2100 block of Swanson Street stopped the man after he saw him filming from the street using an 8-foot-high video recorder, said Sgt. Steve Biello of South Detectives.
The man reportedly told the employee that, this being a free country, he could videotape anything he wanted, investigators said.
The employee called police and told Fourth District officers that while he was working on the grounds, he saw the man filming around 9:45 a.m., the sergeant said.
The videographer, clad in a gray hooded denim jacket and blue jeans, walked away before police arrived, said Biello.
The police department’s Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Intelligence units are looking into the incident. To report information, call South Detectives at 215-686-3013.
Stealing dough
Two men who robbed a doughnut shop Friday were indeed after the dough — just not the edible kind.
A 39-year-old employee told police the duo entered Dunkin’ Donuts on the 3300 block of Wharton Street at 7:40 p.m., said Sgt. Steve Biello of South Detectives.
One of the assailants whipped out a pistol and demanded money while his accomplice jumped the counter and grabbed the cash register tray, the sergeant said.
The armed man then fired a single shot into the floor, and the pair fled south on 34th Street with $140, said Biello.
