Double robbery

"" A man who robbed a local bank Friday is believed to have struck again three days later in the Northeast.

The lead teller at Wachovia Bank, 2227 S. Broad St., greeted her customer at 3:41 p.m. and he handed her a note on white paper that read, “give me the money. … Do not make a scene and no one will get hurt,” Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. He placed a newspaper on the counter and the teller was unsure if there was a weapon inside, so she moved swiftly, as requested by the man, grabbing money from the top drawer without counting it. This alarmed another teller, who pressed the robbery button.

The man fled out of the bank toward Broad Street with about $775 in small bills in a money envelope, Tolliver said.

"" He was described as white, age 20 to early 30s, 5-foot-5, thin to medium build, with a thin beard, tattoos on both forearms — one of which appeared to be a large dragon or fish — and wearing a dark T-shirt, tan and white plaid capris, white mid-calf socks, dark sneakers, a light blue Adidas baseball cap and sunglasses.

The same man, who is considered armed and dangerous, is believed to have struck again at a Northeast Philadelphia Citizens Bank, 10650 Bustleton Ave., 12:20 p.m. Monday, according to FBI spokesman J.J. Klaver. In this robbery, the man received a dye pack, so he may have red stains on his hands and clothing.
