A 22-year-old succumbed to a shot to his head 17 hours after he was mugged last week.
Police responded to a robbery in progress on the 1900 block of Reed Street at 2:34 a.m. Oct. 13, but upon arriving officers discovered Hugo Mwagala, of the same block, on the sidewalk with a bullet to his head, Officer Christine O’Brien of the Police Public Affairs Unit said.
The Point Breeze resident was transported in critical condition to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he died at 7:40 p.m., O’Brien said.
As of press time, there were no suspects.
