Crime prevention tips

The 1st District is warning some Grays Ferry and West Passyunk residents about a surge in burglaries. Residents between 18th and 28th streets and Moore Street and Snyder Avenue should double-check that their doors and windows are locked before leaving their residences to help to prevent break-ins.

The 3rd District is reminding residents to register their bicycles and scooters.

Due to an increase in bike thefts especially in Queen Village and Bella Vista, the district is offering a way to aid in recovery of stolen possessions. Registering the bike with the police will help to prove ownership in a case of a lost or stolen bike.

The police also advise to never leave the bike unattended and suggest storing it inside, if possible. If outside, secure it with a horseshoe-style or Kryptonite lock that has a warranty.

To make an appointment to register your bike or scooter, call Community Relations Officer Ace Delgado at 215-686-3033.
