A group of teens comprising of both genders assaulted an elderly man in West Passyunk Monday night.
Three girls and nine boys ages 12 to 17 surrounded an 81-year-old at 9 p.m. near Smith Playground’s basketball courts on the 2200 block of South 25th Street, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The group of youngsters punched and kicked the senior until he fell to the ground. During the assault, some asked, “Where’s the money?” and “You got some money?” The senior tried to stand up, but he was quickly forced to the pavement again.
The teens then dispersed for an unknown reason in different directions, Tolliver said.
They didn’t take anything from the man, but he bruised his torso and scraped his left elbow during the attack, Tolliver said. He did not seek medical treatment.
