Trio struck by bullets

One teen was killed in Grays Ferry while two of his friends were wounded.

Nasir Slaughter, 17, of the 1800 block of South Ringgold Street, was with a 17- and 18-year-old male friend on the 1700 block of South Taylor Street when gunfire erupted at 10:08 p.m. Monday, police said.

Slaughter was shot in the head and transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was pronounced dead at 11:33 p.m., according to police. His 17-year-old friend was wounded in the back while the other man was hit with a bullet in his calf. They were transported in stable condition to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and HUP, respectively.

The motive remains unclear, and no arrests were made by press time.
