Since opening in 2005, Steak Em Up, 2600 S. 11th St., has continued to deliver a product that can’t be matched especially when it comes to serving up the best french fries.
“We’re so happy we were chosen for best french fries,” owner Mike Lane said.
With a hearty menu including everything from breakfast selections and salads to burgers and ice cream sundaes, Lane thinks variety is what makes his establishment’s deep fried potatoes stand out.
“We have an array of french fries, sweet potato fries, cheese fries, mega fries and we use real Cheez Whiz, which I think is a plus,” he said.
The corner business’ mega fries are loaded with bacon, mozzarella cheese and Cheez Whiz while Steak Em Up’s other variations include pizza fries, curly fries and the newest addition of cheesesteak fries topped with rib-eye steak and choice of cheese. Open daily from 8 a.m. through 11 p.m. and delivering breakfast, lunch and dinner as far north as Center City, it’s no wonder why business is booming for this community gem.
“Business is excellent and we need to thank our customers for that,” Lane said. “It’s very hard for businesses to stay open, but because of our customers, we keep it going.”
Chickie’s & Pete’s curled into second place, with Oregon Steaks and Nick’s Roast Beef shaking it up in third.
