Since 1957, Olivieri Jewelers, 2523 S. Broad St., has created beautiful pieces of jewelry. And 58 years later, the Lower Moyamensing business still captures the hearts of readers who have named it best jeweler.

“I’m very honored,” Daniel Olivieri, the second-generation owner of the establishment, said. “We’ve been in South Philly serving the community longer than any other jeweler. We’re happy to be No. 1.”

And Olivieri doesn’t just resell jewelry and watches. The graduate of The Gemological Institute of America actually designs, makes and manufactures everything on the premises. This includes his newest endeavor, which launched just a few months ago, called Philly Watch Co., a line of watches Olivieri also produces from start to finish.

“We do every single aspect of the jewelry and watch business from start to finish,” he said. “There’s nothing we don’t do.”

Olivieri’s father, Daniel Sr., started the business, and the younger Olivieri recalls being at the store since he learned to walk and helping his father after school as he got older. While his daughter Juliet, 15, hasn’t given any thought to following in her father’s footsteps just yet, Olivieri remains hopeful that the business will continue to serve South Philly for a long time.

“I would hope she would be the third generation,” he said.

Telstar Jewelers shimmered in second while Pietro Jewelers shone in third.
