The United States Attorney’s Office, in conjunction with the FBI, announced on Friday that it is charging Daniel Christensen with one count of wire fraud. The matter stems from his supposed connection to a scheme that defrauded the South Street Headhouse District of $1.4 million.

Authorities stated that between November 2014 and June ’15, Christensen withdrew those funds from accounts overseen by the district, which runs from Front Street to 11th Street along South, to use to float his operation of Copabanana, 344 South St., and Redwood, formerly 340 South St., adding that he eventually replaced the money.

The 42-year-old, who resigned a year ago over an inquiry of a possible financial faux pas, faces a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, restitution, a period of supervised release, a $100 special assessment, and a possible fine if he ends up convicted.
