Coming soon to Snyder Plaza

When ShopRite relocated to Whitman Plaza earlier this year, another nearby shopping center was left with a massive empty space. Call it a temporary setback. Earlier this month, ACME Markets and real estate development firm, The Goldenberg Group, announced the signing of a lease to construct a new supermarket in South Philadelphia.

The new full-line grocery market will be located in the shopping center located at 29 E. Snyder Ave., and will serve the Pennsport and Whitman neighborhoods as well as the greater Center City area. The space is being completely gutted and renovated, with a summer 2017 opening planned. Besides including both Starbucks coffee along with a beer and wine shop, the new ACME will feature an expansive variety of the freshest produce, top-quality meats and seafood, and a large selection of natural, gluten-free, organic, and local products amidst a comfortable, inviting atmosphere.

“ACME’s commitment to delivering an excellent all-around experience for our shoppers aligns with The Goldenberg Group’s goals of reinventing Snyder Plaza to not only provide the variety, convenience and quality of grocery and retail stores our customers demand, but to create a real connection to the community,” Adam Rosenzweig, senior vice president of leasing and asset management for The Goldenberg Group, said. “We couldn’t be more excited to welcome ACME to its new home at Snyder Plaza, and we’re confident that its full line of offerings will make this a beacon location in the City for supermarket shopping.”

ACME Markets joins Target, Marshalls and 20 other retailers on Snyder Avenue, conveniently located off Route 95 and Columbus Boulevard. The announcement is the latest step in The Goldenberg Group’s multi-year plan to enhance Snyder Plaza. In addition to new stores and other capital improvements, plans include the creation of public spaces, improved walkways and better connections to the neighborhoods. SPR
