A woman was pronounced dead following a multi-car accident in East Passyunk Crossing Saturday, and police have a suspect in custody.
Police have arrested Anthony Russino, 59, from the 2600 block of South Jessup Street, and charged him with involuntary manslaughter, homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence, tampering with evidence and related offenses.
At approximately 3:09 p.m., the operator of a 2014 silver Honda Accord was traveling northbound on the 1800 block of South 13th Street when it allegedly struck four other vehicles, three of which were parked and unattended, Officer Tanya Little of Police Public Affairs said. The operator of the Accord is believed to have exited the vehicle and attempted to remove his license plate before he fled the scene on foot.
Caroline Morgan, 56, sat in the driver’s seat of a 2012 Silver Fiat at the time of the incident, Little said. She was transported to Jefferson hospital by PFD Medic 43 prior to police arrival, where she was pronounced dead at 4:36 p.m.
