The 2017 Athletic-Hall-of-Fame inductees are: Gerald Scott (Class of 1970), Lionel Simmons (Class of 1986) and Tarez L. Williams (Class of 1984).The Cultural Hall-of-Fame nominees are: William Guarnere 1923–2014 (attended Southern); Edward “Babe” Heffron 1923–2013 (attended Southern); Dr. Carolyn Parks (Class of 1972); Richard (Dicicco) Rome (Class of 1949); and Dr John F. Santore (class of 1959).
