FDR Park, 1900 Pattison Ave., is going to be the place to hang Saturday afternoon (noon-5 p.m. April 15), as the inaugural FDR Fest will kick off the spring season.

Live music, food trucks, Easter activities, petting zoo, claymobile and 20 percent off kayak, surrey and bike rentals will all be part of this family-friendly affair. The annual South Philadelphia High School dinner banquet and Hall-of-Fame induction ceremonies are taking place Sunday, May 21 at Adelphia Restaurant, 1750 Clements Bridge Road, Deptford, N.J.

The 2017 Athletic-Hall-of-Fame inductees are: Gerald Scott (Class of 1970), Lionel Simmons (Class of 1986) and Tarez L. Williams (Class of 1984).The Cultural Hall-of-Fame nominees are: William Guarnere 1923–2014 (attended Southern); Edward “Babe” Heffron 1923–2013 (attended Southern); Dr. Carolyn Parks (Class of 1972); Richard (Dicicco) Rome (Class of 1949); and Dr John F. Santore (class of 1959).

Jerry Blavat

The details are coming together for A Night of Memories featuring South Philly’s own Jerry Blavat. On Friday, May 12 from 6–9 p.m., Jerry will share stories about the songs he grew up listening to, while he teaches attendees his favorite dance moves. Besides the entertainment, music and dancing, there will be a dinner buffet from Penns Landing Caterers, 1301 S. Dawn Noel

Dawn Noel, who previously called 15th and Porter streets home, is returning home for next month’s Philadelphia Independent Film Awards. She is the producer and star of the 16-minute short film “22 Years,” which is nominated for the Best Short Film. OK, it may be a little too soon to start talking about the All-Star Game, but on May 20 (3–7 p.m.), Citizens Bank Park, 1 Citizens Bank Way, is hosting a different kind of all-star event — an All-Star Craft Beer and Wine Festival.
