T&N Homemade Kitchen, 1820 W. Moyamensing Ave., does it all — breakfast, lunch, dinner and catering. When it comes to that first meal of the day, the breakfast sandwich has earned some serious praise as the best in South Philly.

“I say it feels pretty good,” Michael Tuono, who shares ownership with Tommy Deeney, said. “All the hard work we do has paid off.”

Breakfast is served starting at 7:30 a.m., with the prep work typically beginning an hour earlier. Tuono said they sell about 100 breakfast sandwiches a day. The bacon, egg and cheese on your choice of bread is the the go-to item. Another popular and a little different item is the Italian sausage with broccoli rabe, red potatoes and sharp provolone on a seeded roll. Calorie-watching customers tend to go with the protein sandwich of turkey bacon, egg whites, Swiss cheese, spinach or broccoli rabe on wheat toast

T&N has been around since 1984, with Tuono and Denney taking over ownership five years ago. There is a full menu available daily, with breakfast items accounting for almost 50 percent of the business, with the breakfast sandwiches being in high demand.

“We’ve got it down to a science,” Tuono said.
