The Whitman Council invites residents to participate in a fishing for answers and resources session taking place on Wednesday (June 7) at 2 p.m. in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel basement, 2319 S. Third St. Representatives from the offices of 1st District Councilman Mark Squilla, state Sen. Larry Farnese, state Rep. William Keller, the Veterans Advisory Commission, Community Legal Services, Philadelphia Corporation of the Aging, Caring People Alliance, South Philadelphia Older Adult Center, City Health Center, Philadelphia Streets Dept., and the Philadelphia Police Dept. will all be there. Gennaro’s Tomato Pie is on the move again, this time out of South Philly. Owner Mike Giammarino opened the pizza BYO in Newbold in 2012 before relocating to a vacant spot on the avenue three years later. This time he is heading to Bensalem to join the hot dining scene at Parx Casino. July 30 is the last day of operation in South Philly. The new spot is scheduled to open by the end of 2017 …

Speaking of East Passyunk Avenue, the popular South Philly spot is hosting another big festival on Sunday (June 4), rain or shine, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. The Filitalia International is hosting an Italian National Day celebration on the avenue between Broad and Moore streets. There will be homemade water ice and limoncello at the Italian American Immigration Museum, 1834 E. Passyunk Ave. There will be food trucks, games for children, a Spaghetti Bowl, and music by DJ Johnny Looch and the Stella Mojo Band. …

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. returns to Philadelphia waterfront for Beer Camp on Tour on Saturday, June 17.
