Delivery driver faces attempted robbery
On Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 1:10 a.m., police officers responded to the 1600 block of South Newkirk Street for a robbery in progress. Upon arrival, they were met by the complainant, a 23-year-old black male Domino’s Pizza delivery driver. The complainant stated he was making a delivery for Domino’s Pizza at a residence on the 1600 block of South Newkirk Street when the offender, a roughly 17- to 21-year-old black male with a medium build and wearing a black ski mask, dark sweatshirt with writing on the center of the chest and jeans, approached him and demanded his money. A struggle ensued and the offender eventually entered the complainant’s vehicle, a silver 2014 Nissan Sentra, and fled the scene.

Victim struck by gunfire
On Saturday, Aug. 5 at approximately 10:40 p.m., a 26-year-old black male was walking northbound on South 28th Street from Jackson Street when he heard four to five gunshots as a black vehicle drove by him. The complainant stated that after hearing the shots, he realized he had been shot in the left thigh and immediately ran to a residence on the 2800 block of Jackson Street, and police were then called. A medic unit responded and transported the complainant to Presbyterian Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
The complainant stated he was unable to provide a description of the shooter because he did not see him. However, police officers later surveyed the area for a crime scene and located ballistics evidence and found two vehicles that had also been struck by gunfire.

Assault and robbery
On Saturday, Aug. 5 at approximately 11:52 a.m., police officers took a report of a “robbery point of knife” which occurred on the 1000 block of Mifflin Street. Upon police officers arrival, a 30-year-old Hispanic male reported that on Saturday, Aug. 5 at 2 a.m., he was standing on the front steps of his residence when he was approached by approximately six unknown Hispanic male offenders, all between the ages of 15 to 20 years old, who began asking him questions. The complainant stated that he ignored the offenders and attempted to enter his residence.
However, one of the offenders then grabbed him by his bookbag and flung him to the ground. Next, the group of male offenders began kicking and punching the complainant while going through his pockets. After the incident, the complainant had sustained injuries including bruising to his face, left arm and left knee, however, he did not require immediate medical treatment.
The complainant reported the offenders took two cellphones, $20, his house keys and a black wallet from his person before fleeing the area. The offenders were last seen running eastbound on Mifflin Street, and then southbound on 10th Street.

Victim maced
On Monday, July 24 at approximately 12:20 a.m., the an unknown black male, along with an unknown white female, were captured on surveillance video in the area of 1300 East Passyunk Avenue. Here, they were involved in a verbal dispute over parking with a victim. Sometime later, while the victim was sitting on a step, the female suspect sprayed the victim in the face with pepper spray. Both suspects then fled in a black Hyundai SUV bearing a Maryland registration plate in an unknown direction.

Bike theft
On Monday, July 17 at 7:15 a.m., an unknown black male suspect was captured on surveillance video in the area of 400 Monroe Street when he cut the lock off of a Trek Hybrid bike then fled in an unknown direction.

Vehicular Vandalism
On Friday, July 14 at 1:30 a.m., an unknown male along with an unknown female, were captured on surveillance video in the 700 block of Mifflin Street when the male suspect spray-painted the victim’s truck while the female suspect stood watch. After the vandalism, the suspects walked to the corner of 8th Street and then walked south on 8th Street from Mifflin Street.
