Sara’s No Bake Granola Bars

For those of you who hate baking, this week’s recipe has likely caught your attention, that is if you like granola. South Philly resident Sara Sierschula said her recipe is easy to make, adding to the try-it appeal. Instead of trying to figure out breakfast or lunch first thing in the morning, Sara’s No Bake Granola Bars can be prepared the night before. When you wake up the next day, all you’ll have to do is grab a knife and slice a piece. Not such a nutty idea for a nut-filled recipe!

Ingredients:

1 cup of instant oatmeal (do not cook)
1 cup of crispy rice cereal
1/2 cup of dried fruit of choice, such as raisins, cranberries or dried cherries
1/2 cup of chopped nuts of choice, such as peanuts, walnuts or almonds
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup of honey or maple syrup

Directions:

Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl, then heat the peanut butter and honey in a pan on the stove top for about three minutes, stirring until smooth.

Pour it over the dry ingredients, and stir until well blended.

Pack the mixture down firmly with a rubber spatula or spoon into an 8-by-8 or 9-by-9-inch pan

Let it set in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before cutting into bars.
