Police Report: FBI Task Force operation

On Saturday night, an FBI Philadelphia task force engaged in an operation to locate a missing 14-year-old girl from Florence Township, New Jersey, believed to be in the area of South Philadelphia.

According to the FBI Philadelphia Division Public Affairs office, at approximately 11:30 p.m., two members of the task force, both deputies with the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office, spotted the girl in a vehicle driven by an adult male. The task force officers stopped the car on the 3000 block of South 7th Street, identified themselves, and ordered the driver to shut the car off. The driver instead swerved away from the task force officers, hitting one of them with the vehicle and knocking him to the ground.

The driver then fled to the 900 block of Johnston Street, where he abandoned the vehicle and proceeded on foot. Members of the Philadelphia Police Department soon located him about a mile away, near Broad Street and Snyder Avenue, and placed him under arrest.

The 14-year-old was not with him, nor was she in the car when it was found; her current whereabouts are unknown, and efforts by the FBI and law enforcement partners to locate her continue.

The task force officer hit by the subject’s vehicle sustained an injury to his arm and numerous abrasions, but is otherwise all right.
