The Ss. Neumann-Goretti football team added another championship title to the school trophy case following Saturday’s 18–0 victory over Blue Division rival West Catholic. The latest victory secured the District 1–12 Class AA title for the 10–0 East Passyunk Crossing-based squad. It was their second victory over the Burrs this season, with the other one being a 20–6 triumph during the regular season. Senior wide receiver Dymnir Cave and junior quarterback Charles Britt connected on an 87-yard touchdown in the first quarter while Chris Wells added a 44-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter. Senior tight end Jayvonne Campfield also caught a touchdown pass from Britt. On the defensive side of the ball, rookie Tysheem Johnson picked off his sixth pass of the season. Neumann-Goretti will be back in action on Saturday night (Nov. 18) against Schuylkill Haven out of District 11. Kickoff is 6 p.m. at the South Philly super site, 10th and Bigler streets. The winner will advance to the PIAA Class AA quarterfinal round and face the winner of the Southern Columbia/Mt. Carmel contest, which is also being played on Friday.

Neumann-Goretti also won the Blue Division crown following a 6–0 league mark. The Saints opened the month with a 54–6 victory over Strawberry Mansion for the City title.
