East Passyunk to light up 17-foot Christmas Tree, tonight

The East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District and Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation are officially kicking off the holiday season tonight, Nov. 30, with the Annual East Passyunk Christmas Tree Lighting at the Singing Fountain, Tasker Street and East Passyunk Avenue. The event marks the start to the Deck the Ave month-long holiday campaign (details will be announced later this week).

The festivities are taking place from 5 to 6 p.m., and will include a welcome and introduction from CBS 3’s Chelsea Ingram along with singers and teachers from Alphabet Academy. Of course, Santa will be stopping by to help light the tree — yes, he will be hanging around to take pictures with the children. Home, the Andrew Jackson School rock band directed by Chris Argerakis, will also perform.

Avenue bakeries, restaurants and retailers will provide free sips and samples, including tomato basil soup from Fuel, savory bites from Marra’s, hot cider from the recently opened Rival Bros, along with cookies and hot chocolate from PARC.
