Casino Update

Stadium Casino, LLC has released an updated property fact sheet that includes two key dates. Construction for the The Philly Live! Casino and Hotel, 900 Packer Ave., will commence in 2018, and open in 2020. The project is expected to create nearly 3,000 direct and indirect construction jobs, and approximately 2,000 permanent new jobs for local and regional residents. Job opportunities will be available in every field, including hotel operations, finance, marketing, human resources, information technologies, food and beverage, facilities, security and surveillance, and casino operations. Hiring preference will be given to local residents first, then surrounding communities.

The project, which is a partnership between The Cordish Companies and Greenwood Gaming, was selected in November 2014 to develop a world-class resort hotel and casino complex for the City of Philadelphia, after a rigorous and competitive selection process by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Gaming Control Board. The Cordish Companies are a century-old national real estate developer, and own and operate Philadelphia’s XFINITY Live!, 1100 Pattison Ave., as well as Live! Casino & Hotel in the Washington, D.C. / Baltimore corridor. Greenwood is the owner and operator of Parx Casino in Bensalem, as well as multiple other properties in the Philadelphia area.

Stadium Casino is expected to provide considerable support for local charities and nonprofits, as well as marketing partnerships with area sports teams, businesses and attractions to promote the City of Philadelphia and surrounding communities.

Philly Live! will be more than 1.5-million square feet, and feature a world-class hotel, gaming, dining and entertainment destination. The casino floor will include 2,200 slots and electronic table games and more than 150 live action table games, including poker. Unlike the other Philadelphia-area casinos, Philly Live! will have a 205-room boutique hotel to go along with 2,700-plus new structured parking spaces. Specifics on the dining and entertainment options will be announced at a later date.
