It’s that time of year in which that craving for Girls Scout cookies becomes a regular occurrence. Whether it’s Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties, S’mores or a another cookie of choice, they make for a great mid-day or late-night snack. P’unk Burger, 1823 E. Passyunk Ave., is using the popular treats for its five limited edition cookie shakes available through Sunday, Feb. 25. P’unk Burger owner Marlo Dilks will be donating $1 from every Girl Scout inspired cookie shake sold to Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania’s Girl Experience and Outreach Programming.
“I wanted to support the Girl Scouts because I am a mother of six girls and I feel that anything that helps girls realize their potential is worth investing in,” Dilks said. “In today’s climate, we have to do all we can to empower and raise girls up and give them the tools they need to break that glass ceiling. I am so fortunate to be on East Passyunk with 55 other female-owned businesses. I want to inspire the next generation of leaders, business owners and entrepreneurs.”
Customers have five specialty shakes ($8 each) to choose from. The toasted coconut and sea salt caramel cookie shake consists of vanilla ice cream, chocolate drizzle, toasted coconut, caramel, sea salt and Caramel to do all we can to empower and raise girls up and give them the tools they need to break that glass ceiling. For adults, there is a BYO option for no additional charge.
For those needing to restock on Girl Scout cookies, they will be for sale in front of the store on Saturday and Sun- day.

In Queen Village, the culinary team at Bistrot La Minette, 623 S. 6th St., is paying tribute to Nouvelle cuisine this month as executive chef Kenneth Bush and his team are preparing two revolutionary Nouvelle-inspired dishes. The concept will celebrate the genius and mastery of chef Paul Bocuse, who is known as the creative force behind the Nouvelle Cuisine movement.
Poularde Truffée en Vessie, chick- en steamed in Madeira broth, black truffles, morel crème sauce, baby vegetables, rice pilaf ($39) and Soupe aux Truffles Noires, black truffle soup, foie gras and puff pastry ($22) are the two special menu items, which will be available through Feb. 25.
“Chef Bocuse led the revolutionary movement in France where chefs could be creative and invent their own dishes,” chef-owner Peter Woolsey said. “In 2001, I was lucky enough to work under one of his contemporaries and another founder of Nouvelle cuisine, Alain Senderens. He was the visionary who first realized that pairing a glass of wine with a flavorful dish enhances the whole experience of enjoying a meal.”
