Double shooting, homicide strike Passyunk Avenue

The incident lead to the death of 15-year-old South Philly resident.

On Thursday, Oct, 4th, at 8:02 p.m., 1st District Police officers responded to a radio call for a “person with a gun” on the 2500 block of West Passyunk Avenue.

Upon arrival, on the highway, officers located a 15-year-old male shooting victim with a gunshot wound to the chest who was later identified as Rasul Benson from the 1500 block of Ellsworth Street.

The victim was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 8:42 p.m, police say.

A second 15-year-old male shooting victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to the right shoulder and was taken to the same hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

This investigation is ongoing with the homicide unit.

The offender is described as a male with a slim build wearing an unknown colored hoody and jeans. He race is also unknown.
