Mary Gay Scanlon wins 5th Congressional district, Elizabeth Fiedler wins House District 184

Democrats gain victory in South Philly districts.

Last night, democrat candidate Mary Gay Scanlon won the recently-redistricted U.S. House fifth congressional district, which includes Packer Park, Girard Estates, Whitman, Lower Moyamensing and Sports Complex neighborhoods in South Philly. Scanlon clinched 80.27 percent of the vote over republican Pearl Kim, according to the Office of the Philadelphia City Commissioners.

Democrat candidate Dwight Evans won the U.S. House third congressional district, which includes the Grays Ferry, Point Breeze, Graduate Hospital, Passyunk Square and Pennsport neighborhoods of South Philly. Evans clinched 93.34 percent of the vote over republican Bryan E. Leib, according to the Office of the Philadelphia City Commissioners.

Democrat candidate Elizabeth Fiedler, who ran ran unopposed in the 184th Pennsylvania House of Representatives District in South Philadelphia, earned 99.76 of the vote, according to the Office of the Philadelphia City Commissioners.
