South Philly Sharks seeking donations for Florida championships

The organization is seeking assistance in helping student athletes play in a national tournament.

The South Philly Sharks’ eight, 10 and 12 and-under youth football teams recently qualified to compete nationally in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Championship Tournament in Davenport, FL from Dec. 5 to 8.

This competition will not be easy, and the sacrifices made by student athletes and their families will be huge. Each player’s family has made large economic commitments in order for their child to take part in this new life experience. Most of players have never been outside of the tristate area, which will open up their eyes to experiences totally new to them.

The youth organization, which has placed and won three championships in Philadelphia throughout the month of November, is seeking donations, or any form of assistance, with giving the student athletes a chance to play in this tournament. The Sharks are looking to raise $1,000.

Coaches and mentors believe this experience will continue to prepare each child for future life endeavors, which will foster positive behavior, good study habits and improved decision-making skills for years to come.
