The Philadelphia Global Identity Project, convened by the City of Philadelphia and a consortium of organizations working together to develop a new brand identity for the Philadelphia region, has reached a milestone in its first phase. As a crucial component of the regional, national and global research effort exploring perceptions of Philadelphia, the project is inviting Philadelphians to share their voices and contribute their thoughts to the regional branding process.

With the ultimate goal of capturing the essence of what it means to live and work in Philadelphia, this multi-phased effort is focused on creating a common language that every resident, business and institution can use to communicate and market their experience in the region. The process of developing a cohesive identity that truly represents every aspect of this region takes the efforts of the entire community. Those who live and work in the Philadelphia region, including South Philly, can share their thoughts in a short online survey at SpeakPhilly.com. The survey will be open and available until Dec. 31.

The results of the community survey — combined with insights from one-on-one interviews, focus groups, online discussion boards, intercepts and quantitative surveys — will be critical to developing a new brand identity for Philadelphia. The identity, which will be developed in subsequent phases of this project, will be deployed around the globe in hopes of attracting and retaining businesses, capital, talent, students and tourism to the region at large.
