Want to win a $50 or $30 Target gift card or be entered into a grand prize drawing for a one-year family membership to the Philadelphia Zoo

This all happens at the South Philadelphia Book Fiesta on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is how it works. First, pick up your Fiesta Passport at Fumo Family Library or any of the South Philadelphia library branches.

Next, get your passport stamped at any branch while enjoying the exhibits, demonstrations, music and refreshments. Finally, fill out a short survey and turn it in to get your raffle ticket for Book Fiesta prizes. You may fill out a raffle ticket at each library you visit.

All six South Philadelphia library branches will raffle off a $50 Target gift card and a $30 gift card. All raffles will automatically be entered into a grand prize drawing for a one-year family membership to the Zoo. End your day at the Chew Recreational Center with a barbecue, games, music, storytime and giveaways, including free books and Fresh Grocer gift cards. Winners will be contacted by phone or email on Friday, Oct. 25.

At the Fumo Family Library, 2437 S. Broad Street, make and take home tiny magnetic magic mosaic to hang on your refrigerator. Then, at 1 p.m., listen to ukulele students perform a concert.

At the Thomas F. Donatucci Sr. Library, 1935 Shunk St., stop by for games of all kinds in the library garden. Play Giant Jenga and Connect Four, Twister, and many more. Between noon and 2 p.m., enjoy the unique sound of Stevie and the Bluescasters as they perform an outdoor concert in the library garden. Stevie and the Bluescasters are an acoustic blues band playing unique arrangements of all kinds of blues. Free soft pretzels and cookies will be served.

At the Whitman Library, 200 Snyder Ave., the Friends of Whitman Library are advocates and supporters of the library. They’ll be in front of Whitman Library selling used fiction and nonfiction books, with all proceeds benefiting programming and supplies for the library. They’ll be joined by the SoPhiE Food Truck, a neighborhood immigrant business incubator run by SEAMAAC, which will be selling food made by a local chef. Find a good read, a treat and support your local library.

At the South Philadelphia Library, 1700 S. Broad St., catch the Foxy Doxies performing their musical adaptation of the Dr. Seuss classic “Fox In Socks.” This fun-for-all-ages show brings tongue-twisting rhymes to life. The show will be preceded by a “Fox in Socks”-inspired storytime.

At the Charles Santore Library, 932 S. 7th St., this is a photographic celebration of the neighborhood created by members of the community for the Book Fiesta. Come view the history, architecture, recreational opportunities, food culture, festivals, murals and people unique to the area surrounding the library. Visitors are invited to choose a favorite image to turn into a button.

At the Queen Memorial Branch, 1201 S. 23rd Street, from 1 to 3 p.m. there will be opportunities to meet local firefighters and police, touch a fire truck, meet a police dog, get safety resources, have your face painted and enjoy light refreshments in the outdoor courtyard. At 3:15, a guided art walk will commence through the Point Breeze neighborhood to Chew Recreation Center, where there will be a barbecue, games, music, storytime and giveaways, including free books and Fresh Grocer gift cards. All are welcome.
