Wednesday, October 23

East Passyunk Witch CRAFT Beer Crawl from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at 1904 E. Passyunk Ave. Enjoy seasonal craft beers at close to 20 bars and restaurants along East Passyunk Avenue. Online tickets are $6.66 and include $4 beer specials from Founders Brewing Company, a witch hat and a Witch Craft stamp card. Tickets purchased in-person at registration are $10. Earn stamps by purchasing a craft beer, food or other beverage at participating locations. Collect five or more stamps to be entered to win a gift certificate prize package worth more than $30, with runner-up prizes from local brewers and bars. Registration is at Garage at 1231 E. Passyunk (9th and Wharton) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. After that, crawlers are free to hit the bars of their choice. Witch CRAFT Stamp Cards must be returned to Pistolas del Sur (1943 E. Passyunk Ave.) by 9:30 p.m. Maximum of two stamps per location. Collect stamps by purchasing $4 craft beers or any participating food and beverage items. You do not need to be present to win the grand prize. There will also be additional raffle prizes, including gift certificates to participating bars and restaurants and prizes from Founders Brewing Company. Nudey Tunes: Missionary Position at 9 p.m. at Franky Bradley’s, 1320 Chancellor St. Enjoy an original burlesque story written by Paul Severe, featuring live music from Noize Toyz. A Mad Hatter-Themed Halloween Tea Party at 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Thomas F. Donatucci, Sr. Library, 1935 Shunk Street. Bring your fanciest hat and sense of wonderment as we celebrate both Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice in Wonderland and Halloween.  The event will have games, dramatic readings, prizes, snacks, juice boxes, and of course, tea.

St. Casimir Church’s Fall Bingo at 7 p.m. at EOM, 144 Moore St. Tickets cost $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Ticket prices include 10 rounds of bingo, wine, cheese, assorted dessert. Items available for purchase include extra packages, specials, daubers and raffles. Lap game prizes are $100 in cash. Coverall prizes are $500 in cash and a fall gift basket. Kids’ Pumpkin Painting from 4 to 6 p.m. at Palumbo Recreation Center, 725 S. 10th St. Join the sixth annual Kids’ Pumpkin Painting. ColorWheels, the mobile studio based at Fleisher Art Memorial, will be on hand to help the little ones with their masterpieces.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 266 is holding its 23rd annual name reading at the  memorial located at Front and Spruce streets at noon. The public is invited to hear the names of the 648 men and women from Philadelphia who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. Chapter 266 is looking for new members. East Passyunk Fall Fest and Spooky Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1904 E. Passyunk Ave. East Passyunk invites you and your family for a double dose of spooktacular fun. Bring the whole family out for Fall Fest and Spooky Saturday. Family activities include costume contests (for children and dogs), pumpkin decorating, arts and crafts, storytime reading, live music, scarecrow scavenger hunt, trick or treating and pet treats. For the grown-ups, enjoy live music, more than 40 craft and arts vendors, fall fare, spirited cocktails and more. Most activities will be held at the Singing Fountain (East Passyunk Avenue and Tasker Street), with select activities to be held at Mifflin Triangle (East Passyunk Avenue and Mifflin Street) and a scarecrow scavenger hunt all along the Avenue. Halloween Fall Fest in Girard Park from noon to 3 p.m at 21st and Porter streets. Bring your little goblins and everyone. Come dressed in your Halloween best. The event features refreshments, face painting, costume contests, DJ, dance contest, pumpkin patch, tricks and treats and more. Free to area residents and their families.

The Goldenberg Group’s South Philly Halloween Spooktacular at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Snyder Plaza East,. 29 Snyder Ave. Kids and parents can enjoy The Goldenberg Group’s second annual trick or treating event. Dress up in your best costume for a howling good time! Children must be accompanied by an adult. The event will feature storefront trick-or-treating, iHeartMedia trunk or treat, costume contest, live DJs, games and more.

You Be the Judge: an evening of food, drink and South Philadelphia-based KYL/D’s signature dance contest at 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at The Sculpture Courtyard, 1714 N Mascher St. Philadelphia. For a $65 Ticket ($30 is tax-deductible), you will receive one raffle ticket and be acknowledged as a donor on the KYL/D website and home season program. 13th Annual Mutt Strut at 10 a.m. at the Navy Yard. This annual event is where dogs and the people who love them will enjoy a fall festival and walk the scenic route in the Navy Yard. Each year, the Mutt Strut raises over $120,000 for PAWS’ lifesaving efforts. PAWS is the city’s largest rescue partner and is working to make Philadelphia a no-kill city. For more details, visit

Fall Fair and Pumpkin Painting from 1 to 3 p.m. at Triangles at Grays Ferry, 2235 South St. Enjoy kids’ pumpkin painting, stories, movies and more. All activities provided are free. SOSNA Triangles will be hosting kids pumpkin painting with pumpkins donated by the South Square Market. The Igloo will be offering Ice Cream Pumpkin Pie with an 8-ounce cup with graham cracker crust bottom, pumpkin ice cream and whipped cream topping ($2.99).

Spooktacular at 6 to 8 p.m. at Christian Street YMCA, 1724 Christian Street. Join the YMCA for its annual Halloween party. The evening will include fun activities and crafts for the whole family. Lower Moyamensing Civic Association General Meeting at  6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Fumo Library, 2437 S. Broad Street. Meet your neighbors! Learn about LoMo activities and resources in the community to support those struggling with drug addiction. Guest speakers from three local organizations include Jessica Repko of Wedge Recovery Centers, Early Intervention Program, John Carlson of Transformation to Recovery and Rohit Mukherjee of Save Our Lives, Philadelphia Department of Health.

Dickinson Square West Civic Association Trick or Treating at 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The civic association presents a safe corridor for trick or treating in Dickinson Square West. The following blocks will be closed to street traffic: the following blocks to street traffic 400 Sigel St. (between 4th and 5th and Moore and Mifflin) and 1600 S. Lawrence St. (between 4 and 5th  and Morris and Tasker.) Toss on your Halloween costume and stop by both blocks to enjoy plenty of delicious candy and spooky decorations! Feel free to bring a chair and handout your own candy. Anyone is welcome. You don’t have to live in Dickinson Square West.

Local SEPA Convention of States Group from 2 to 3 p.m. at South Philly Library, 1700 S. Broad St. The public is invited to learn about Article V of the U.S. Constitution, which provides that 34 states can get together to propose amendments to the Constitution. This is nonpartisan. So far, 15 states have applied. Pennsylvania might also apply.

The Train Collectors Association Atlantic Divisio’s Thanksgiving Toy Train Show and Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Penns Landing Caterers, Sheet Metal Workers Union Hall, 1301 South Columbus Blvd. There will be 140 tables with a variety of vintage toy trains and repair parts for sale, test track, operating toy train layouts, kids activities, and door prizes for adults and children.  Admission is $5 per attendee or per family of two adults and all children 12 and younger. Overdose Awareness and Reversal Training at 6 to 7 p.m. at at South Philly Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia, 1700 S. Broad Street. South Philadelphia High School Alumni Award of Excellence Luncheon from noon to 3 p.m. at the Waterfall Room, 2015 S. Water St. Awards include Mark Rago, Fran Guiles, Yvette Palmer and Harry Gilbert. Snake Party at 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m at South Philly Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia, 1700 S. Broad Street. Snake expert Scott Prior will talk about snakes’ intriguing lives. If you are brave enough, you can pet one of his snake friends! All ages welcome.

Fall Street Cleanup at 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at East Passyunk Crossing Civic, 1025 Mifflin Street. Join your neighbors in cleaning up the East Passyunk Crossing area! Meet at the community garden for coffee and pastries. Then, the group will hit the streets. Supplies will be provided. 

Liberty Flea at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bok, 1901 S. 9th Street. Liberty Flea is a collection of the top Vintage and Artisan vendors in the Philadelphia area. This is the place to shop for antiques, home decor, furniture, vintage clothing, handmade artisan goods and awesome food. Admission is $5. Children 12 years and younger are free. Dogs are welcome!
