Wednesday, November 6

South Philadelphia High School Alumni Award of Excellence Luncheon from noon to 3 p.m. at the Waterfall Room, 2015 S. Water St. Awards include Mark Rago, Fran Guiles, Yvette Palmer and Harry Gilbert. The full luncheon buffet includes dessert and soft drinks. A cash bar will be available. Tickets cost $32 per adult and $20 per child. For more information, call Giovanna at 215-626-7053.

Not a Typical Kid: A Support Group for Parents of Children with Autism at 6 p.m. at Fumo Family Library, 2427 S. Broad St. Come meet, ask questions, receive support and share experiences and resources with other children on the autism spectrum. Children are welcome, and an activity will be provided.

Captain Hartzell of the 3rd Police District, the District Attorney’s Office and state Rep. Elizabeth Fiedler’s Neighborhood Meeting from 6 to 7 p.m., at Fiedler’s district office, 2400 S. 9th St.

Snake Party from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at South Philly Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia, 1700 S. Broad St. Snake expert Scott Prior will talk about snakes’ intriguing lives. If you are brave enough, you can pet one of his snake friends. All ages welcome. 

Census Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at South Philly Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia, 1700 S. Broad St. The Census Bureau is hiring. Come hear from a Census Bureau representative about the job opportunities available. 

Crayola: The Art of Family Engagement from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Whitman Library, 200 Snyder Ave. Family Academy Courses & Training (FACT) presents Crayola: The Art of Family Engagement. Learn about the four C’s of 21st Century Learning – Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication and Collaboration. In this session, you will learn why creativity matters, your role as a champion to your children and creative activities for families to do together. Participants will receive a kit to take home with Crayola art supplies, a family engagement guide and three visual, easy-to-use, project-based, age-appropriate activities. Italian Language Movie Matinee at noon at Fumo Family Library, 2437 S. Broad St. In the sequel to “ Three Steps Over Heaven,”  the main character gets another chance at love. Step returned to Rome after two years spent abroad to deal with issues he tried to get behind him. Many things have changed, and the encounter with the overwhelming and irresistible Gin caused lots of emotions and sensations that he believed he had felt for his first great love whose memory, however, was never extinguished. Will Gin ever take the place of Babi in the heart of Step?

Southeast Youth Athletic Association “SEYAA” Bingo Fundraiser at Saints John Neumann and Maria Goretti High School cafeteria, 1736 S. 10th St. Doors open at 6 p.m. Bingo starts at 7 p.m. $40 donation includes food, $2,000 jackpot coverall, $400 flash coverall, $150 lap games, Bonanza 50/50 Coverall, door prizes, basket raffles and 50/50.  For tickets, stop down to the SEYAA concession stand at the field at 7th and Bigler streets weeknights from 6 to 7:30 p.m. or Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can also email seyaasports@aol.com or call or text 215-806-8818. LoMo and East Passyunk Crossing Fall Street Cleanup from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at East Passyunk Crossing Civic, 1025 Mifflin St. Join your neighbors in cleaning up the East Passyunk Crossing area. Meet at the community garden for coffee and pastries. Then, the group will hit the streets. Supplies will be provided. 

Liberty Flea from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bok, 1901 S. 9th St. Liberty Flea is a collection of the top vintage and artisan vendors in the Philadelphia area. This is the place to shop for antiques, home decor, furniture, vintage clothing, handmade artisan goods and food. Admission is $5. Children 12 years and younger are free. Dogs are welcome.

Community Service Day from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Girard Park, 21st and Porter streets. Meet Elaine Fera at the center of the park. If you need hours for community service, letters will be given.

Monday, November 11

Veterans Open House and Meet State Rep. Elizabeth Fiedler from 9 to 11 a.m.  Get assistance for state and federal veteran issues and concerns. Rep. Fiedler District Office, 2400 S. 9th St. (at Ritner).

Tuesday, November 12

Free Narcan Days at the Free Library of Philadelphia from 2 to 5 p.m. at Queen Memorial Library 1201 S. 23rd St. Health Department staff will be at branches of the Free Library to answer questions about Philadelphia’s opioid epidemic, provide drug overdose training and distribute Narcan.

Friday, November 15

Rep. Elizabeth Fiedler’s Mobile Constituent Services from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Whitman Council, 2455 S. 3rd St. Get assistance with state issues and concerns and applications for Senior SEPTA ID card.

GAMP School Grand Raffle Night from 6 to 9 p.m. at 2136 W. Ritner St. Tickets cost $15 and include food. Raffle sheets cost $20 each.

Saturday, November 16 

Saturday Constituent Services Hours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rep. Elizabeth Fiedler’s Tasker Satellite Office, 1537 S. 6th St. Enjoy coffee and doughnuts with the state representative from 10 to 11 a.m.

Saturday Storytime: Elephant & Piggie Thank-O-Rama Party from 11 a.m. to noon at Whitman Library, 200 Snyder Ave. What are you thankful for? Join the library for an all-ages storytime featuring “The Thank You Book” by Mo Willems and more books about gratitude. After storytime, there will be fun with Elephant & Piggie activities and giveaways.

Fall Street Tree Planting from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at East Passyunk Crossing Civic, 1025 Mifflin St. Join neighbors volunteering planting street trees in the East Passyunk Crossing community. Meet in the community garden for coffee, pastries and a quick training, then split into groups with a registered Tree Tender to plant trees. Help green the neighborhood and take ownership for the beautification of the community. 

Monday, November 18

Friends of Fumo Library Monthly Meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Fumo Library, 2437 S. Broad St. Help us raise funds for library programs and advocate for more library services. 

Thursday, November 21

Rep. Fiedler’s EPCC Senior Breakfast from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., East Passyunk Community Center, 1025 Mifflin. Also assistance with state issues and concerns, Senior SEPTA ID card processing. For more information, call 215-271-9190. This is a free event. 

Saturday, November 23

Infant Storytime at 11 a.m. at Fumo Family Library, 2437 S. Broad St. Enjoy stories, songs, rhymes, music, movement and lots of fun, followed by a half-hour playgroup. This event is  for children birth through 18 months and their caregivers.

Saturday, November 30

Houseplant Workshop and Plant Swap from 1 to 3 p.m. at Fumo Family Library, 2437 S. Broad St. Learn the do’s and don’ts of plant care. Presented by Donna Williams, moderator of Philly Plant Guy.
