In honor of its centennial year of service and to highlight its ongoing community impact, Philadelphia Foundation partnered with Mural Arts to create a new mural at 23rd and Market Streets by artist Ernel Martinez. The newly completed Centennial Legacy Mural “Strength in our Bonds” was unveiled last at its permanent location last week.
Throughout the summer and fall, the Philadelphia Foundation invited individuals throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region to participate in art-making and conversation through a series of 18 free public paint days and workshops designed to envision the region’s future. Several workshops took place in South Philadelphia, including at Mural Arts’ Southeast by Southeast, 2106 S. 8th St. Over a four-month period, more than 1000 community members participated.
