South Street Tree Lighting from 4 to 6 p.m. at 2nd and Lombard. Celebrate the spirit of the season as South Street Headhouse District presents the annual Winter Wonderland at the Historic Headhouse Shambles on 2nd Street. Free admission. Come out and celebrate SSHD’s finest holiday traditions. Santa Claus will arrive on a firetruck, then he will greet children and collect their wish lists. Parents should bring their own cameras for photos with Santa. Music, treats and gift shopping will also be part of the event. CBS 3’s Kimberly Davis will help Santa countdown to the official lighting of the tree at 5 p.m. SSHD, CBS 3 and The CW Philly 57 will collect unwrapped toys for children in the region through the Salvation Army. Look for collection bins under the Shambles during the event.

Pyramid of Lights from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Cianfrani Park, 746 Fitzwater St. Join us for a Bella Vista tradition, hot chocolate and a treat. Come out with your neighbors and celebrate all the hard work that has gone into keeping the park beautiful. Santa will also be making an appearance. Enjoy live music courtesy of the Philadelphia Orchestra’s Jen Montone. Santa will arrive to light the Pyramid of Lights and visit with children.

East Passyunk Avenue BID and Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation invite you to kick off the holidays at the Annual East Passyunk Christmas Tree Lighting. Come out with neighbors and friends for an evening filled with holiday music from Alphabet Academy Child Care, Andrew Jackson School HOME rock band and more. CBS 3 Philly meteorologist Lauren Casey will be emcee. Count down with her as she helps light the official Christmas tree around the singing fountain. Bring an unwrapped new toy for Lauren to bring back to CBS 3 and The CW Philly 57 for their annual Toy Fest holiday drive. You can also donate $10 to the cause by texting JOY to 41444. Crayola: Moved by Math from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Whitman Library, 200 Snyder Ave. Family Academy Courses & Training presents “Crayola: Moved by Math.” Making kids love math is a challenge to most parents. Math is a skill that takes a lot of brain power to master, and this can be experienced by kids as hard work. In this workshop, participants discover art-inspired strategies that bring large numbers and math expressions to life. Participants will receive a Crayola math kit to take home, which includes art supplies, a family engagement guide and three visual, easy-to-use, project-based, age-appropriate activities. St. Monica Cash Bingo at St. Monica Senior School Gym, 16th and Shunk. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Games start at 6:30 p.m. A table of eight can be reserved. $25 per person includes three cards for each 10 rounds, dessert and coffee. Attendees are welcome to bring food and drink. 50/50 and special bingo rounds. Must be at least 18 years old to play. Tickets on sale at the rectory. Rectory hours are Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are also available at the door.
Can You Händel It? East Passyunk Pop Up Choir from 2 to 4 p.m. at The Singing Fountain, East Passyunk Avenue and Tasker Street. Join a pop-up choral performance of George Frideric Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus from his 1741 oratorio, Messiah, on East Passyunk Avenue. Together, the group will learn Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus and other carols, accompanied by live musicians. Participation by the general public is open and encouraged. No experience is necessary. Everyone free to participate. The group will be using the Schirmer Edition of Handel’s Messiah. Bring your own score or print out your own copies, as printed copies will be limited. Meet your neighbors, enjoy refreshments, make a holiday craft and listen to live music. Interfaith Philadelphia will be honoring the library as a Zone of Peace. The library will also be collecting new, unused, brand-name items for hygiene kits, including baby wipes, liquid soap and tissues.
