Again, many thanks to Grace Maiorano for another brilliant report highlighting the power of art to communicate understanding of other areas of study – especially science, {“American Swedish Museum explores climate change”}. Those of us who live in temperate areas like the Delaware Valley, often fail to realize fully how global climate is gradually becoming warmer thanks to greenhouse gases produced by fossil fuels. As the museum exhibit,”Nordic Changes,” by Diane Burko graphically illustrates, Arctic ice is gradually disappearing. and of course adding to rising sea levels. (Just ask the people of Venice if they get the picture.) It is vital that exhibits like this not only raise visual awareness of the impact of climate change on our planet but inspire direct activism to protect the environment. If not now… when?
