Stadium testing site will close on Wednesday, reopen Thursday

The drive-through COVID-19 testing site at the South Philadelphia Stadium Complex will be closed on Wednesday due to expected bad weather conditions, officials said.

Philadelphia Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley said that only 80 people were tested at the site during a five-hour span on Monday, which also experienced rain and windy conditions.

On Tuesday’s afternoon briefing, Farley announced that Philadelphia’s confirmed cases total had risen to 252, after an increase of 77 new cases on Monday. Through 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, there have been 2,177 people tested in Philadelphia with 1,925 negative cases, according to the city’s website.

Farley said the South Philadelphia site expects to open again on Thursday when weather conditions clear.
