Celebrating ‘Unity in the Community’

Unity in the Community celebrated black businesses in the community by giving out school supplies, sandwiches and a scholarship to help the local community.

The event was held on Sept. 17 at Black Seed Cafe at 24th and Federal Streets in the Point Breeze neighborhood. Cricket Wireless donated $1,000 to Black Seed Cafe, which was used to make 100 free sandwiches for members of the community.

During the event, potential voters were registered, school supplies were given out to students. Last week, Unity in the Community presented 10 students with a $1,000 scholarship to help pay for college and laptop computers.
