The owners of a new Point Breeze restaurant called Community are helping community members find a full meal for Thanksgiving.

The restaurant, which opened this year at the corner of 21st and Federal streets, is donating free turkey dinners to people in need on Wednesday, November 25.

Chef Michael Sultan and his wife Angie will be giving away complimentary packaged turkey dinners to anyone in need while supplies last. Residents can pick up a meal at the restaurant from 4 to 6 p.m. on the day before Thanksgiving. The giveaway is first-come, first served until they run out.

“We are always looking for ways to give back to our neighborhood, and we feel lucky to be able to do so, especially around the holidays,” said Angie Sultan. “Mike makes a delicious Thanksgiving dinner every year, and we’re excited to share it with our neighbors this year and hopefully for many years to come.”

The dinners feed two people, featuring turkey donated by Halpern Meats, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, mac & cheese, green beans and pumpkin pie. And produce will be donated by Giordano Garden Grocery on South Front Street.

The restaurant will also be collecting donations to raise money for the Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance, a nonprofit that provides meals to people who have serious illnesses and need nourishment in the Philadelphia area.

“I’ve worked with MANNA and I really believe in their mission, so Thanksgiving seemed like a great way for us to team up again,” said Michael Sultan. “One of the major focuses of Community is to work with other local businesses and give back to our community in fun and meaningful ways.”
