East Passyunk offering big sales for Small Business Saturday

The East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District will take part in Small Business Saturday, Nov. 28, offering discounts and specials from the district’s dynamic mix of retailers, services and eateries along the Avenue.

Home to more than 150 independently owned shops and restaurants in South Philly, the district hopes to attract local shoppers and give a boost to the local economy, which has struggled under restrictions due to COVID-19.

“Every year East Passyunk Avenue offers holiday shoppers some of the most unique and memorable gifting in the city,” said Adam Leiter, executive director of the East Passyunk Avenue BID. “This year, it’s even more imperative to show support for these independent businesses by shopping locally so they can be here tomorrow.”

Several shops along Passyunk Avenue are offering private shopping, online deals and can’t-miss sales in honor of Small Business Saturday.

Specials include A Novel Idea, which is offering a three-day sale (in-store only) from Nov. 27-29. Everything in store is 10-percent off, with select items up to 40-percent off. Additionally, those who spend $50 will take home a free T-shirt or pin. Those who spend $100 will receive a free store-brand tote bag.

Good Buy Supply, Philadelphia’s first-ever sustainable retail shop, will have a sneak peek of its bulk soaps for refill and other plastic-free home goods.

Metro Men’s Clothing will offer 20-percent off storewide, with new winter arrivals including Philly sports-themed items. (Offer excludes sale merchandise).

NRS Boutique will showcase a collection of fun, one-of-a-kind designs as well as vintage and other textiles. The shop will offer a socially distanced sale, both on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with deep discounts via online shopping.

Occasionette will have curated gifts for every occasion, including candles, tea towels, jewelry, bar wares, candies, notebooks, journals and photo frames.

The Utopia Collective’s stylish lifestyle boutique will discount all pillows, both in-store and online, by 25 percent. The Utopia Collective will also give out 10-percent-off cards for a future in-store purchase for anyone who makes a purchase on Black Friday or Small Business Saturday. All items in the store are under $100.

“We’re encouraging people to shop small and avoid the mall, since it’s so easy to find something special on East Passyunk,” Leiter said. “Whether it’s new clothes, surprising stocking stuffers or even a gift certificate from one of our great shops or restaurants, there’s always something that will be the perfect fit.”
