St. Gabriel’s, Epiphany to be considered for historical certifications

Two South Philly Roman Catholic churches will be considered for historical certification.

The public is welcomed to support the cases virtually on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 9 a.m. when Philadelphia historian and criminologist Celeste Morello will present a case to the Philadelphia Historical Commission in hopes of having the two locations approved for the Philadelphia Register of Historical Places.

Instructions on how to participate via Zoom or by telephone can be found on the city historical commission’s website at https://www.phila.gov/departments/philadelphia-historical-commission.

The two churches seeking approval are St. Gabriel’s Church and Rectory at 1432 S. 29th Street and Epiphany of our Lord Roman Catholic Church at 1101 Jackson Street.
