A statue from the National Shrine of St. Rita’s of Cascia has been recovered after it was reported missing on Friday morning.

According to police, the statue weighing 100 lbs and valued at $100,000, was removed from the stone and glass enclosure on the sidewalk outside the property at 1166 S. Broad Street sometime after it was last seen on Thursday evening.

Police said they recovered the statue on Saturday afternoon when 17th District officers received a call that the stolen statue was on the sidewalk at 1615 Webster Street, about a half a mile away from the shrine. The statue was returned and an investigation is ongoing, police said.
