Gianna Spatoulas, the general manager of Ember & Ash on 1520 E. Passyunk Ave., will be hosting a ladies’ happy hour on Wednesday, March 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. to celebrate the end of Women’s History Month.

Although it is a female-focused event, it is open to anyone. Chefs Scott Calhoun and David Feola will be preparing smoked halibut ceviche, dollar oysters and other menu specials. There will also be French 95 cocktails, “Big Mac” pickle back shots and discounted house whiskey cocktails.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Philly-based nonprofit Women Against Abuse, which aims to provide quality services to those who are affected by violence.

“The women in this city support each other immensely, and it’s wonderful to see so many different initiatives taken by Philly’s savvy lady leaders,” Spatoulas said in a press release. “I decided to host this happy hour while supporting a worthy cause, and we’re all looking forward to what should be a really fun night.”

Spatoulas, who has managed a number of restaurants throughout the city and has worked with chefs such as Zama and Marc Vetri, opened Ember & Ash at the tail end of 2020. She said that she is more than happy with her restaurant’s success to this point.

“I’m very proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish during our first 15 months in business, and I’m also very proud to be a female business owner in Philadelphia,” Spatoulas said.
