The Da Vinci Art Alliance will unveil two new exhibitions this week at its gallery at 704 Catharine St.
Lia Huntington will explore how we sustain ourselves in a world full of destruction and how we can learn to use where we are in this age of the anthropocene to foster a sense of safety within ourselves through her exhibition Prayer Beads for the Anthropocene.
Huntington documents human interactions with public spaces through paper making and metal smithing processes. The constructing fiber and welded structures she creates will act as portals to explore our individual experiences as we move through life within Philadelphia.
Prayer Beads for the Anthropocene will be on view beginning April 7 with an opening reception from 5-7 p.m., and will be available as a video walkthrough shortly after.
Opening the same night, the Da Vinci Art Alliance will show a group exhibition from artists all over the world called To a Green Thought in a Green Shade.
Artist Noëlle King has brought together 18 diverse artists worldwide to express their deep connection to the natural environment and its healing. This exhibit is a realized version of Andrew Marvel’s “Green Shade.” A resting place that can engender hope and action toward a future that respects the Earth and provides a safe garden for all beings.
