The East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District recently announced that it will be hosting the second year of the three-week “Garden Days” celebration starting on Saturday, May 7, and running through Memorial Day on Monday, May 30.

The event will feature various horticultural happenings in the lead-up to the start of the Philadelphia Flower Show in June, including live music, sustainable and floral finds from retailers and themed snacks.

“We’re thrilled to renew Garden Days this spring as it was such a positive and engaging experience for all last year ahead of the outdoor Philadelphia Flower Show,” said Adam Leiter, the executive director of the EPABID, in a press release. “We’re looking forward to seeing great verdant visuals, and having the public enjoy entertaining and informative events along with all the delicious flavors that the Avenue is known for.”

Restaurants and bars such as Noir, Ember & Ash, P’unk Burger, Manatawny Still Works and Pub on Passyunk East will be offering snacks and drinks that highlight ingredients such as honey, flowers, sustainable greens and other organic items.

In addition, attendees can browse sustainable home goods, toys, clothing and other special services at numerous local businesses. That includes garden and nature-related items at Occasionette and Tildie’s Toy Box, flower and plant-shaped pet treats at Amelie’s Bark Shop and supplies for urban gardens at Urban Jungle and Ill Exotics.

There will also be a story time event hosted by A Novel Idea on Saturday, May 14, for which families and kids are encouraged to bring a favorite house plant to listen to stories about plants, gardening and greenery.

Live music will be performed by a variety of local artists at The Singing Fountain, Mifflin Triangle and other locations over the course of the three weeks.
