For years, the Dutch made its mark on 4th Street in Pennsport. Now it’s the Dutchess’ turn.
On June 8, the location at 1527 S. 4th St. opened its doors under the name The Dutchess and will continue a tradition of serving great food to the Pennsport neighborhood. The restaurant was the original location of The Dutch, which was relocated to East Passyunk in March by Chef Lee Styer. Now Styer and his wife Jessie Prawlucki-Styer, along with partner Chef Kevin Watters, have a new project with a sister restaurant back at the old location.
“We’re exceedingly excited to return to the original location of The Dutch with a new, tweaked concept, The Dutchess,” said Lee Styer. “We’re thrilled to bring house-made ice cream, burgers, sandwiches and more to the community of Pennsport.”
The Dutchess is being described as a fast casual concept, boasting a rotating menu of breakfast sandwiches and coffee during the day, while offering burgers, falafel flatbreads, salads, chicken sandwiches and house-made artisan ice cream at night.
The Dutch was first opened on 4th Street in 2016 but was moved to 11th and Tasker streets in the space that Fond occupied before its closure last year. The Dutch is a more traditional restaurant at the forefront of the brunch scene with varying hours on its operating days of Wednesday through Sunday. The Dutchess will have a more casual concept with counter service, grab-and-go meals and takeaway service and will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and dine-in and outdoor seating will also be available.
Highlights from the all-new menu at the Dutchess will include breakfast burgers, cheeseburgers, falafel flatbreads, crispy fried buffalo chicken sandwiches and house-made ice cream. There will be weekly craft beer pop-ups in the weeks ahead.
