The Amazing Mr. Q – at 1 p.m. at the Whitman Library, 200 Snyder Ave., join the Amazing Mr. Q and his puppet friends for an interactive variety show. This free event is presented by Free Library Youth Services & Programs. No large groups, please.

National Typewriter Day – from 6-8 p.m. at Philly Typewriter, 1735 E. Passyunk Ave. Free two-hour lecture, led by founder and IBM Selectric Mechanic Bryan Kravitz. Will showcase the history, value and relevance of the analog writing device.

June 24

Twilight in the Gardens – from 7-10 p.m. at Magic Gardens, 1020 South St., this BYOB after-hours event features a live performance by the Rob Curto Trio and a hands-on art activity with The Clay Studio.

Bring a blanket, snacks and drinks and picnic in a mosaicked labyrinth. Listen as the Rob Curto Trio “serves up a performance of toe-tapping tunes, roots-influenced traditional covers and rhythmically driving originals.” At art tables, the Clay Studio will be on hand to help guests create their own sgraffito tiles, which will then be fired and mailed out as keepsakes.

Tickets ($25 adults/$20 students and seniors) are available online or via phone (215-733-0390, Ext. 119). Space is limited. Proof of vaccination is required.

June 24-26

Summer Solstice Event – at Moon+Arrow at 742 S. 4th St., artists, vendors, beverages and sidewalk sales. Features local businesses in the area. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on June 24-25 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 26.

June 25

Sommerfest – from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the 700 block of South Street, Brauhaus Schmitz presents Sommerfest Block Party. Includes the region’s largest Maypole, authentic German dancing, live music, flower crowns, face painting, schnapski tent and games. Event is free with food and drink pay-as-you-go. Midsommarfest – from 4-7 p.m. at the American Swedish Historical Museum, a day of fun for the entire family with traditional Swedish food, live music provided by the Last Chance duo and activities for all ages. Flower crowns, Swedish foods and refreshments for sale. Check out the Swedish used book sale and Mormor’s Attic Shop, filled with second-hand treasures. June 26 

The 6th annual B[L]OK PARTY – From noon to 4 p.m. on Mifflin Street between 8th and 9th streets, a street fair for neighbors and friends to celebrate all things Bok and South Philly. Activities for kids and adults of all ages, including a bouncy castle, food trucks, arts and crafts, music and fire truck demos. Visitors are also welcome to stop by the businesses on the first floor in the WKSHP retail corridor. This event is free to attend and all are welcome. In the event of rain, the fair will be indoors in the West Gym at Bok.

July 8
