Letter to the Editor: Helping girls dream big

Corporate leaders are stepping up in more ways than ever. Girls Inc. was excited to welcome Olympians Simone Manuel and Erin Jackson, and Comcast’s Dalila Wilson-Scott, who participated in a career panel and goal-setting workshop with a group of our members on June 16 as part of Comcast’s Team UP volunteerism program.

The panel was an excellent opportunity for our girls to be inspired by accomplished women and helps shine a spotlight on our vital mission. The formative ages of 12-18 is when conversations about career aspirations begin for many girls and we have expanded our career exploration programming to introduce girls to a broad range of possibilities with this in mind.

It was an engaging day and an extraordinary display of mentorship. Our team participated in a goal-setting activity where each girl shared her future career aspirations. Programs like this help girls dream big and learn what it takes to achieve those dreams. We’re thankful to Simone, Erin and Dalila for their participation.
