Honor Beirut bombing victims

The Marine Corps League’s annual memorial for the nine Philadelphia-area soldiers killed in the 1983 Beirut bombing will take place on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 10 a.m. at the Beirut Memorial, Front and Dock streets. Drivers whose vehicle displays a Marine sign can park for free on streets adjacent to the memorial. For more information, call Don Campanile at 215-696-9194. ••

Veterans parade names grand marshals

The Philadelphia Veterans Parade and Festival announced Municipal Court President Judge Patrick Dugan and retired Sgt Maj. JoAnn Tresco as co-grand marshals of the parade, on Sunday, Nov. 6, at noon. Tresco is an advocate for female veterans, raising money and awareness. Dugan, a retired U.S. Army captain, is a founder of Veterans Court and has served overseas in Panama, South Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Anthony Murphy, president of the Philadelphia Veterans Parade, said, “Throughout their civilian lives, both Judge Dugan and JoAnn Tresco have worked in unique ways to raise awareness of issues impacting veterans and helping those with the greatest needs.” ••

Honor POW-MIA

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 266 will hold its 25th annual name reading at the Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Front and Spruce streets, on Saturday, Oct. 22, at noon. Volunteers are needed to read one of (or part of) the 34 panels that honor the 648 Philadelphians killed in the Vietnam War. Phriends’ Murder Mystery coming to Counter Culture

Starting Oct. 28, Counter Culture at 514 South St. will host an interactive murder mystery show. Phriends is acted out by iconic characters Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Phoebe and Joey, who take a trip down to Philadelphia for the opening of “Fairmount Perk,” a cafe chain started by Gunther. However, the fun doesn’t last too long as drama stirs up between the friends and some unexpected guests make an appearance. During the show, there will also be a scavenger hunt that can be played through an app on your smartphone.

PL130 opens new exhibition

PL130 Gallery at PhotoLounge will open an exhibition called Projected Exposures, which will run from through Nov. 12.

Projected Exposures will highlight 13 Member Moments of inspiring interviews and beautiful photographs that show each photographer’s point of view.

The show invites viewers to delve into the work by also reading the full artist interviews and providing feedback and reactions. The goal of Projected Exposures is not only to encourage the exhibiting photographer’s, but to help viewers develop their own critical eye.

Open house will be held on Nov. 4 from 6-9 p.m. at PhotoLounge, 130 S. 17th St.

Sports Hall of Fame on Nov. 3

The Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame’s 2022 Class will be Inducted on Nov. 3 at 5:30 p.m. at Live! Casino & Hotel, 9th Street and Packer Avenue. Inductees will be the Blue Horizon, the 1983 NBA-champion 76ers, Adele Boyd, Art McNally, Charles T. Activities at Academy of Natural Sciences

The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, 1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, is hosting several current and upcoming exhibits.

Sea Change is running indefinitely.

The River Feeds Back, going through Oct. 30, is an immersive sound installation created by artists Annea Lockwood and Liz Phillips. The exhibit brings visitors into the deep sonic environment of the Schuylkill River watershed through recordings and a layered sound map that captures glimpses of the river system including the life of aquatic insects, eels, fish and swirling currents.

Ocean Bound will run through Jan. 15, 2023.

South Phila. HS class of ‘68 reunion

The South Philadelphia High School Class of 1968 will hold its 55th reunion on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Waterfall Room, 2015 S. Conto fighting at 2300 Arena
