Audenried’s Smith hits 1000 points

Universal Audenried Charter School sophomore Shayla Smith eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in just her second season of high school basketball.

Smith, the newly crowned Philadelphia Public League Player of the Year, needed 31 points heading into Friday’s playoff game and reached her goal by leading the Rockets to a 62-33 victory over Julia R. Masterman in the quarterfinal round of the Public League playoffs. Contributed photo.
