The Reinhard Street Community Farm is hosting a special event on Friday, October 4th—a Harvest Dinner and Screening. This all-ages gathering promises to be a delightful evening filled with food, film, and community fun. It’s the perfect opportunity to meet your neighbors, enjoy a locally sourced meal, and learn more about how you can get involved in this important community effort.
Event Details
The Harvest Dinner and Screening will offer attendees a chance to experience the vibrant work being done at the Reinhard Street Community Farm. The event features a community-cooked meal, using ingredients grown right on the farm, as well as a unique culinary performance by local chef and farmer Ben “Corn” Miller, accompanied by percussionist Shakoor Hakeem.
The evening will also include the screening of a work-in-progress documentary directed by artist-in-residence Gabrielle Patterson. This film explores the food traditions of the farm’s stewards and the connections fostered through growing and sharing food. Gabrielle’s work, in collaboration with The People’s Kitchen, highlights the ongoing efforts to make healthy food accessible to the Southwest Philadelphia community.
Event Location
The event takes place at the Reinhard Street Community Farm, located at:
6171 Reinhard Street, Philadelphia, PA 19142.
The farm is just a block from the 13 Trolley and close to the 11 Trolley and the G Bus, making it accessible by public transportation. Street parking is also available, though biking or walking is encouraged due to the farm’s proximity to the Cobbs Creek Trail.
Event Price and Conditions
This community event is open to all ages and is entirely free of charge. Guests are encouraged to bring their family, friends, and neighbors for an evening of food, film, and fun. If you have any accessibility concerns, such as needing assistance to reach the restroom (located on the second floor of 6171 Reinhard Street), please feel free to contact the organizers in advance.
