Event Details
Inspired by the DIY book Generation T: 108 Ways to Transform a T-Shirt by Megan Nicolay, this workshop is led by Haven and Corey, the owners of STITCH AND DESTROY. They’ll show you how to transform your t-shirts into cool new things like tank tops, halters, split tees, bags, and more. You’ll get all kinds of extras, like t-shirt scraps, fabric markers, safety pins, and embroidery thread to decorate your new creations.
This workshop is like a “choose your own adventure,” where you can get creative and make something that’s completely your style. There will be examples to help guide you, and sewing machines will be available, along with help if you need it. All skill levels are welcome, and the workshop is open to anyone 18 and older. Just remember to bring 3-6 t-shirts you want to transform — the more variety, the better!
Event Location
The workshop will take place at STITCH AND DESTROY’s studio, located at 523 S 4th St, Philadelphia, PA 19147. The studio is just off South Street, so it’s easy to get to.
There is some metered street parking, but it can be tough to find a spot, so it’s a good idea to take public transportation. Buses 40, 57, 12, 47, 42, and 21 stop nearby, and the Market-Frankford Line (5th St stop) and Broad Street Line (Lombard-South stop) are also within walking distance.
While the studio has a bathroom, please note that it’s not wheelchair accessible, as there are steps involved. However, if needed, the workshop can be moved to the “first floor” store area, which is easier to access. Event Price and Conditions
Tickets for this workshop are $25. You can request a refund up to 7 days before the event. Space is very limited (only 8 spots available), so be sure to sign up early to secure your place. If the workshop is canceled by STITCH AND DESTROY, an alternate date will be offered, and refunds will be available if you can’t make the new date.
Event Time
The workshop is scheduled for Monday, September 23, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM EDT. Make sure to arrive on time, as the event starts right at 6 PM and lasts for two hours.
