BOCCE LEAGUES

In last Thursday’s women’s games, Mazza Bros. defeated City Pizza, 12-8, and PFC, 12-2; and Southern Auto beat PFC, 12-9, and City Pizza, 12-2. In Tuesday’s men’s games, Pine Nuts defeated Camilli Chiropractor, 12-9, and Cacia’s Bakery, 12-6; Cacia’s shut out Chef’s Market; Chef’s Market took the win over Rudi’s Formal Wear, 12-3; Casa dei Pazzi defeated Rudi’s, 12-4; and Camilli beat Casa, 12-11. The men’s league plays Tuesdays and the women’s league plays Thursdays starting at 7:30 p.m. at Guerin Recreation Center, 16th and Jackson streets.

BEACON BASKETBALL

The Beacon community program at Bok Tech High, Eighth and Mifflin streets, is offering high-school division and 13-and-under basketball leagues. The 13-and-under games will be played at 10 a.m. and high-school games will follow at 1 p.m. Saturdays. Call Daryl, 215-868-9666, or Leonard, 267-254-3769.

GUERIN LEAGUES

Registration is being held for the basketball league for 12 and under and 14 and under at Guerin Recreation Center, 16th and Jackson streets. Adults are needed to help. Parents should register their children Monday-Friday, 3-8 p.m., or call the center, 215-685-1894, to make an appointment. Registration also is underway for the Guerin soccer league for 12 and under. The fee is $25, which includes a shirt and awards, due at signup.

PALUMBO HOCKEY

The Palumbo Recreation Center, 10th and Fitzwater streets, is holding registration for its street hockey program (no skates required) for boys and girls ages 8-11. Play starts in mid-November. The cost is $30. Games will be played Mondays around 4 p.m. Call 215-686-1783.

POINT BREEZE BASKETBALL

The Point Breeze Civic Association is registering boys and girls for its winter basketball league. Signups for boys ages 9-12 are held Wednesdays; boys 14-16, Thursdays; and girls 10-15, Fridays. Registration will be held at Vare Middle School, 24th Street and Snyder Avenue, from 6:30-9 p.m. Call 215-755-6628.

RIZZO RINK HOCKEY

Rizzo Rink, Front Street and Washington Avenue, is taking registration for the in-house league for returning players and an introductory ice hockey program for new players. The cost is $115 and the program is open to boys and girls ages 5-12. Call 215-685-1593.

SEYAA INDOOR SOCCER

Registration is being held for indoor soccer for ages 4-6. All games will be played Saturday mornings at Thomas Middle School, Ninth and Johnston streets, from January through March. Register at the SEYAA concession stand, Seventh and Bigler streets, weeknights from 6-8 and weekends from noon-2 p.m.

SEYAA YOUTH BASKETBALL

Registration is ongoing for the organization’s basketball league, which begins the week of Jan. 5. Divisions are coed biddy basketball for ages 4-6, boys’ basketball for ages 7-8 and 9-11, and girls’ basketball for ages 7-9 and 10-12. SHOT TOWER SOCCER

In the opener, the Chargers defeated the Sharks 3-2. Evan Quinn, Phillip Connel and Josh Bright tallied goals for the victors, while Drake Lee and Jordan Hanson scored for the Sharks. In the nightcap, the Comets defeated the Kixx 2-1. Nicole Schoefield and Brianna Vranna powered goals for the victors, while Sean McClosky, Emuri Husbin and Mo Fiocca played well for the Kixx.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Special Olympics Pennsylvania will host its 2003 Fall Festival at Villanova University Nov. 7-9. More than 1,000 athletes and nearly 350 coaches representing 35 counties will participate in the statewide competition. The event will feature three days of competition in such sports as bocce, long-distance running/walking, powerlifting, soccer and volleyball.
